The following areas need to be considered at the end of the intern’s contract with you. If you are planning to offer the intern onward employment, this needs to be clear long before their departure date.
Write a reference, write a LinkedIn recommendation, or be available to be a referee because the internship is a stepping-stone to the career. Help the intern craft their entry on their CV and help to summarise the skills that the intern learned on the job. They may not know the language and it could also be commercially sensitive stuff so just a bit of support with that is always good for everybody involved.
